We’re excited to be finishing our new album which will be released by 4AD in May. We’re very happy with the record and can’t wait to share music with you. Of course, with a new album comes a tour, as we’d like to play our new songs for you! You’ll find the tour dates below and we’ll be adding more European & west coast US shows soon.

we are also very excited, you’re telling me!

for gig presales, you may head to American Mary’s website.

today, it’s gonna be a bright day.

Mogwai’s Revenants

hello folks,

Mogwai comes back with a new soundtrack written for Canal + series called Les Revenants.
interesting composition for a film or series, however it may evaporate pretty quickly as an album.
but who cares, one shouldn’t expect Mogwai to rewrite New Path to Helicon Part 1 repeatedly.

the album will be released shortly (Monday) on Rock Action.

for a full streaming of the album, click on the cover.

get a move on, for i assume the streaming won’t stay online forever!

Sin Fang’s Flowers

the video of the day goes to Sin Fang’s Look at the Light.

this new video is taken from his album called Flowers, released at the beginning of the month by the great Morr Music label.
produced by Alex Somers (Sigur Rós + Jónsi’s producer), this new LP is an inventive one, maybe more accessible than the previous records, maybe a little bit more pop, even if it perpetuates the delightful acoustic atmospherics i had already enjoyed on Summer Echoes.

it took me quite a long time to adhere to Sindri Már Sigfússon’s music (stupid me). still this very Summer Echoes was the first album that really caught my attention, under the moniker Sin Fang (he’s also known as Sin Fang Bous and belongs the nice folk project called Seabear).

i assume i eventually succumbed to his highly polished melodies and little happy notes à la Múm paying a closer attention to the production which was animated by a multitude of little details and sounds.

Guards

god, it’s been weeks, almost months i want to tell you about Guards!

i enjoyed quite a lot their first EP released in july 2010, but since their very first LP, In Guards we Trust,  is about to see the light (on 5th february), it’s high time for me to make some noise.
ladies and gentlemen, please welcome with happiness the tremendous Guards!

first of all, click on this link (or on the cover) provided by Pitchfork to listen at once to the album in streaming.

i’m sure you’ll start fidgeting as soon as Richie Follin’s voice penetrates your ears. and when Loren Humphrey and Kaylie Church rejoice this very voice, offering a cheerfully devastating melody such as I Know It’s You or Nightmare, i’m sure MGMT will turn pale with envy.

this first album is a joyful avalanche of gold nuggets, great 60’s tunes which give off a smell of sun and summer and make you feel like leaping (naked) in the closest lake.
you’ll notice however, that the voice of Folling shows evident shades of melancholy and shambling deception equally.
the beginning of 1&1 is full of sadness and invites us to ask any surrounding toads or frogs to dance this incredible slow number.
it’s just as good as falling in love again and being both happy and sad about it.

beware, this album contains plenty of sunbeams. and this is damn good.
